Today marks a breakthrough in my artistic endeavors! I'm marking a red circle around this day on the calendar. For this is the day I was able for the first time to pick up a paint brush and dip it into the paint and just paint. Just paint. Freely. With no hesitation; and with the heart palpitations being of excitement, not abject fear. The results may not show it but I now know where I am going. I'm working on my library desk today while standing; here's the shot.
I noticed the index card laying there with my notes I made late last night. I'd wanted to be sure I got it all down, so kept jumping up at various times during the night, to add to the notes. It reads:
"art idee: embroidery on tea bag paper. sew on (hand sewing) beads, sequins, shells, etc. with painted patterning (acrylics) and gold metallic thread. Indian mirrors, bindis"
When I awoke this morning I leaped out of bed, put the coffee on, and raced to the workspace to throw paint onto the tea bag (sounds funny as normally one would say threw the paint on to the canvas), and threaded the beads and threw them on. I just had to see what it might look like. Oh I have arrived. Finally!!
So I offer to all of you, this virtual visual of my little flower, sloppy, messed up and loud.
To see more of wonderful art desks and work surfaces from all over the world, have a visit to Julia's fabby blog Stamping Ground.
Thanks for popping in and I'll see you soon I hope! *smiles* Norma
Well done you.
ReplyDeleteHi Norma
ReplyDeleteI've never done tea bag painting, I think I might try it after looking at yours.
I have had a go at a zentangle today, that's something else new to me.
I will be writing a blog about it tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteOoooh, I love this post! AND yay for freely painting - you expressed this joy beautifully. SO happy to have you playing along with the SOC this year, it was so much fun to see what you did last year and I know I will get more of the same beauty this time around. Thanks for the inspiration, Kristin xo
ReplyDeleteThank you for the flower and it was brilliant to read how you painted without hesitation!! More creative days to you!!
ReplyDeleteYou go Girl !! I have never been brave enough to just wing it with the paint. I woke this morning and was making my coffee. And you will be surprised to know I thought of you. Why? you ask. Well I didn't feel like going to the cold room for a fresh coffee can. So I broke out the 'hotel' stash. Any how my thought was, Are the coffee bags made out of the same thing as the tea bags, and could 'You' use them the same as you use your tea bags?
ReplyDeleteSo, there you have it true story, keep smiling and painting !!
Looks like a fab creative moment! x Jo
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're having fun! Take care my WOYWW friend, am still snooping, all but a little late! Zo xx 65

ReplyDeleteThat is such a sweet little flower and on a tea bag. I hope you use the tea to give you inspiration while working. It's great when an idea just hits you and you get to follow it through.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

Good for you on painting with no plans...it's my favorite way to paint! Love what you created! And yes....get yourself some tinted pencils AND paint outside. You wont' regret it. :)
