Bird Construction Zone

On my worktable (ahem! I mean my daughter's dining room table) is the panorama that is bird making in progress!
This pink robin is awaiting a coat of black paint on its' beak; then a light sprinkling of silver acrylic. AND the all important coating of glitter along its' back. Then it'll be banded (number of bird) and will be ready to fly! Well, after the legs get a coat of something that will cover the yellow string and shiny metal, and a hanging thread strung, that is...

Cut, sew, glue, cut, sew, glue, cut, sew, glue...

An early starling joins the fray! Each bird gets its' own armature!!

I am so excited! I finally scrunched up enough nerve to contact a retail outlet to see if they might be interested in selling my birds...and they want to meet me to see them in person. I'm nervous and excited all at once. So I am in full on bird making mode. BUT MY DAUGHTER GETS BACK TOMORROW! (Can you hear the pounding timbal in the background? No, wait, that is my heart!) Time to clean up!

Fall Collage Sheet

On my workdesk today is a sheet of collage elements that I made for a paper swap hosted by LaWendula. I made other sheets as well but am just showing you this one.

These images are meant to be cut out or torn apart and used in other collage projects by my swap partner. Sometimes using anothers' creative bits throws your own art endeavors into a different space.

TRUTH OR DARE

TRUTH!
This is my drawing table/light table/work table. It sits on my bathroom counter directly on top of my sink which I now don't use.
Truth: In the photo below you can see my laundry pile. It is truthfully towering over my work table.
Question: I ask myself "What is more important? Laundry or Art"?
Truth: Art

On my workdesk this day of What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday, are wings I am making for my artdoll prim fairies. They have removeable wings which tie on, made of tulle, with found text applied and made fancy with sequins, beads, etc. I cannot describe the enjoyment I get in making these. Hours of enjoyment. They take hours to make if you can imagine!! Finding the text is what eats up the time.

Here's a closeup of a wing with text. I am imagining a face in the style of Suzi Blu for this doll.

What is on your workdesk Wednesday

AND A GIVEAWAY!

Yesterday I started what I thought was to be a very quick sketch for today's post and it was going swimmingly until I started to sketch the pinecone! Have you ever drawn a pinecone? I immediately ran into trouble so knew I'd have to do a preliminary sketch and when I carefully began that part I came to realize that a pinecone is probably one of the most difficult things to capture in a drawing there ever was (in my opinion now). So I slowed right down and did the best that I could. I have a new appreciation for those little things!
This giveaway will be drawn on Sunday. It is an unknown flower seed pod, another heart rock that I found the other day, a pinecone, and with a few real lupin seeds thrown in for good measure. India ink, watercolor pencil on used tea bag paper. Just leave a wee comment for your name to be added!

Thanks for dropping in! *smiles* Norma
